Do You Ever.....

make baked apples??

I had a few apples that were past their "crispness" for me, so I showed Lucy how to make baked apples.
My Mom used to make these for breakfast, and I truly forgot how delicous they are!

{Baked Apples}
4 apples
1/4 cup brown sugar
1t cinnamon
butter
raisins, pecans or anything else you might want to add
boiling water

~Preheat oven to 375

~wash apples and with a paring knife cut out stem and use a spoon to dig out all seeds making a hole 3/4 to 1 inch wide

~place apples upright in an 8x8 baking pan

~mix brown sugar and cinnamon and fill the center of each apple
(and raising, nuts, etc)

~put a small pat of butter on top of each apple
~pour about 1/2 inch of boiling water into the pan

~bake 30 to 40 min or until soft...but not mushy!
~serve warm (with vanilla ice cream is yummy too!)

What a perfect Fall dessert!!

Do you ever...??

make your own pita bread??

Bex recently shared the recipe she uses for homemade pita bread...so today I gave it a try!

HERE is the recipe I used

There is definitely a learning curve when making these...my first few look a little more like "naan" than pita bread, I think because I did not roll them thin enough.  It is very cool to see how they "balloon" up in the oven, which helps to create the "pocket".

A couple of my thoughts after making these...

~ I started out using my pampered chef stone type pans, and switched to my metal sheet pan after the first batch and thought that worked better.

~I added rosemary to the dough as well...next time I will use "fresh" rosemary and add more, but it does add to the flavor.

~Mine definitely had to cook the full 4 min and a few of them I cooked a minute or two longer.

They really are delicious!

Make Salmon Quesadillas??

My family loves these...they are a quick easy lunch or dinner :)

In a bowl combine...
1 can Wild Alaska Pink Salmon
Light Mayo*
Liquid Smoke*
( *both of these add to taste, some like more mayo than others, and with the liquid smoke...a little goes a long way :)

Spread on tortillas, add cheese (I use cheddar, but these are delicious with smoked cheddar too!)...and grill until cheese is melted and tortilla is golden.

mmmmmm!

...set up a Hot Cocoa Station?

This is one of my kids, and well MY favorite little places.
I set out a tray with jars full of hot cocoa, marshmallows, gourmet sipping chocolate and a few pretty mugs...and it seems to just call you over to make yourself a cup.
(this was a little dressed up for Valentine's Day)

(My DARLING mugs and sipping chocolate in the cutest tins ever...were a gift from a very sweet friend, Diane,  whom I only know from "blogland".  She sent these to me along with a wonderful candle and a book about Chinese New Year for Lucy after we had our little ER visit a few weeks ago.  She knew just what these Girls needed!)

Diane, thank you so much for taking the time to do this for us...you are a treasure! xoxo

Do You Ever??

Make Egg and Potato Burritos for dinner?

Growing up my Mom made these for us all the time!  I remember even taking them in my lunch to school :)

My fondest memory though, was growing up in California and going to a Dodgers Game...my Mom would make a big batch of these (she would add in sausage or bacon too), wrap them in foil, and we would take them to the game.  I never cared if we bought food from the concessions stand when we had these...who would??

Everyone in my family now loves them too!

Do You Ever??

Display your most precious pottery pieces?
I treasure each and every one of these little gems. I just received a couple of new pieces from my two boys in high school ceramics, and I couldn't have been happier! I think I need to make more room on my shelf :)

(dont you love how even though these were done at many different shoools and times, the glaze colors are all so similar?)

Do You Ever??

I haven't done a "Do you ever?" post in awhile (you can read my last one here). I originally was inspired to do these after Tracy Porter started doing them on her blog....I loved the idea!

My friend Pam over at Views from my kitchen sink, did a great "Do you ever?" today, and I was so inspired that I rushed to do the same!

Do you ever....frame an old recipe from someone you love?
This is my Mother-in-law, Jannice's Button Biscuit recipe.
She made these for almost every family dinner we had, my FIL cooked the main course, and Nana made the biscuits. The boys always got to help!
I love that it is in her handwriting, and that it is stained from so much use, even though, she knew the recipe by heart, she still took out the card.
❤I love that it is mine❤

Do you have one of these??

Do any of you have one of these ceramic compost crocks?
I throw all of my food scraps, egg shells, coffee grounds in the garbage...so I was thinking this would be a great way for me to start composting them.
I have been wanting one for so long, but I am wanting to know...
do you like it??
does it put off any odors??

Do You Ever...

I think I have mentioned before how much I love Tracy Porter...her blog is so much fun, lots of great decorating ideas, recipes, and fun personal stories. She does a post called, "Do You Ever..." and in it she introduces you to new things she's discovered or just things she loves or loves to do.

I always enjoy reading her post, so I thought I would try one of my own...

Do You Ever....

*Light candles during the day...even when you don't have company?

* Read Daily Candy? (I discovered this one from Tracy) A fun, hip and trendy website!

* Use
Foot Petals in your mid to high heels? They cushion the ball of your foot and stop your foot from sliding forward. Great product!!

* Turn the radio off in the car while you're driving alone? Peace and quite
